Penguin Unit Study for Toddlers, Preschool, and kindergarten!
This Month of December we studied Penguins! we learned everything we could about penguins by checking out books from our local library, doing arts and crafts and printables about penguins, watching documentaries about penguins and even visiting a local zoo to see them close up in person! Here are some some of the things we did:
Penguin File Folder Game: Pre-primer Dolch Words, get it free here!
Learned about Penguin Facts. Every day I read one of these fact cards to the kids. Penguins are very interesting we loved learning all the facts.
Penguin Crafts
You will need two paper plates. Take one and draw what you see above. This will be the flippers, feet, head and bill.
Cut out the pieces. I labeled them with color names so that Jade would know what to color each part.
Color each part and put the penguin together!
CRAFT #2
Take a piece of paper and draw a penguin shape
Put glue on the paper
let the child out cotton balls on the glue
Have the child color in penguin and make a face, all done!
Went to the zoo to see the penguins!!
Watched some Penguin Documentaries!

We love animal unit studies. My daughter gets so into them she even told me she is going to be a scientist and swim with sting rays so she can make books for people at the science center. That was an unprovoked thought … it almost made me cry 🙂
